Freedom For All by DigitallyDestined Freedom For All by DigitallyDestined
The western powers positions on the Arab Spring show their hypocrisy openly. Freedom should be for all not just for Tunisians and Libyans and not Palestinians or Tibetans. I pray for better times. w'Salaam ~ Peace

Also, the U.S. has a really bad habit of promoting democracy and then panicking when countries elect someone who doesn't love the U.S.

Great poster and a very strong message. To be fair to the west these situations are very complex and whatever we do will upset someone. Having said that I do agree that we need to be doing more.. The reaction to Palestine's application for full membership of the UN was shameful

I agree, but I think the west is confused about it's power. Some people want to help, but don't know how or maybe even if intervention would help. Others don't care and actively want to keep countries in states of anarchy.

It's important that Geo-politics is called what it is, a game of bull-shit where everyone wants to keep everything the same or as similar as can be. Taking sides has never been very popular in that conservative circle.

I think this colonialist ideology still survives within western political circles this idea of them taking advantage of the unfortunate state of many resource rich countries. Western society doesn't care that chinese 'slaves' (for want of a better term), who work 15 hours a day to make pennies are the ones providing them with their clothing, technology and food. Yes people care on a individual level but society doesn't care. We are conditioned by the mass media into actively maintaing the status-quo, we acknowledge the suffering in the world, but society continues in the same way regardless. Its not the people who are at fault its the system. I hope that made some sense.

I think people are in a state of panic and fear about the chinese slaves. They depend on them in an unimaginably nasty way and as reported before the last century: The slaver finds himself 'kept' like an animal by those who do all the work and that led to slaver fear that the revolts would not only be vengeful but also remove the economic dependency which they had so cluelessly put themselves under.

There is also a fear that the salves are taking jobs away from 'Americans' of what have you. Society does have it's concerns, but they're ever so much more self centered than we like to think.
